Barnes' type of algorithms are better referred to as "objecive analysis" rather "interporlation" as it often includes extrapolations. Hi I updated the "How to plot station data in a grid" recipe in http://cookbooks.opengrads.org/index.php?title=Plotting_station_data_in_a_grid Please check if it's all OK. By the way, I don't understand how to upload files in the cookbook so I temporarily hosted them outside the opengrads.org domain. Arlindo, I don't think cumbersome is the right word. I think just not having any experience in contributing to something like that was the main thing that slowed the process for me. I didn't know much about the correct syntax, but having access to the earlier submitted recipes helped. I think the fixed format works well. It keeps things simple, but still ample room to explain what you are trying to do. Colleen On Oct 5, 2008, at 11:35 AM, Arlindo da Silva wrote: > Collen, > > Absolutely, yes. Collen, Absolutely, yes. For example, any recipe covering anything in the script library would also be very helpful. My hope is that the recipes would be a good reference for newbies and power users alike. BTW, do you find the process for contributing recipes too cumbersome? I've heard some complaints that having a fixed format with headers, etc, is annoying. What is your experience? Could you include a shaded plot with annual means and perhaps a timeseries of global means? Hi, I worked out the code quickly. There may be better more robust or elegant coding and scripting, but it worked. http://cookbooks.opengrads.org/index.php?title=Recipe-xxx:_Converting_GPCC_ASCII_files_to_GrADS-Grib I did want to add a link(s) to the latest lats4d pages, but I'm not sure what that might be. Do you think a quick script that returns a value from a displayed map when you point and click on it would be useful for the cookbook? This is a sample session: ga-> d va ga-> val_return va Click at top of map to clear mouse clicks Then click on map for point of interest Click near bottom of the screen to quit -6.77881 -0.278809 -1.77881 -4.02881 ga-> Colleen |

Hi, I wrote a couple GDS test scripts, they compare typical sdfopen with serverside calculations. http://cookbooks.opengrads.org/index.php?title=Recipe-xxx:_GDS_and_Serverside_Example I couldn't fine the boilerplate image upload code, but I do have a sample image to add as well. Let me know if I can add anything else to this. Mike |

Hi All There is one thing I keep on teaching and teaching to my students and I decided to make in a recipe way: How to plot station data in a grid. I started the recipe and its URL is: http://cookbooks.opengrads.org/index.php?title=Plotting_station_data_in_a_grid I implemented and tested it here in Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Mike, The URL of the page is: http://cookbooks.opengrads.org/index.php?title=Recipe-xxx:_Scatter_Fit_and_Stats The new recipe generation script uses a frame, which causes the location bar for that tab to become somewhat misleading. To find the URL of your page after you save it, you can search for it manually in a new tab, or right click + copy link from the wiki's recent changes page ( http://cookbooks.opengrads.org/index.php?title=Special:Recentchanges ). Arlindo + others, It's possible for the new recipe script to print the future URL the page, in a bar above the frame. Would this be a useful feature?
