I'm not sure what you'd want OpenGaim to do with IMAP.
That's primarily an e-mail mailbox access protocol, not an
instant messaging protocol, so it would be an unusual one to
add to an IM client.

Show a notification of new email, clickable to open the
default email client, etc etc. Number of new emails in specific
user defined boxes.

I'll leave this open, but at a low priority due to the work
involved. There are programs designed to do such things
from which code may be reused.
