hi everybody, there is something about one-second programs that shouldn't be: -when you don't select a time for the program you are adding, then it is converted automatically in a one-second program, and if you don't realize it and start trying scheduling, then you have all these one -programs that you cannot see even with the zoom, and the big problem is that, since you cannot detect them and delete them, you cannot schedule where you have them so, if there is a way to fix this, it would be a great improvement! -then, it still happens that if I program something that, for example, lasts four minutes and starts at 15.56, then it ends at 15.60... -I also tried to add a program at 16.20, right after a program that ended at 16.20, and it didn't work, but when I tried to schedule it at 16.21, it was added to my timetable but saying that it started at 16.20. this is everything for now, ciao chiara . |

hi all and adam in specific. some other details i ran into, hope i don't get annoying... *when adding a lot of programs, what happens to the list in the edit timetable section? create different pages? max of programs? * in the add program section, when you added a program, a link "add another program" would be nice. * in the update program section and in the create channel section, when you click the frequency clock logo, it's linked to http://radioqualia.va.com.au/freqclock/ but in the same frame, think it's more clear to give it a <target="_blank"> value. *there can be two playlists wit the same name, don't know if it's a problem but thought i should mention. *in the create playlist section, when you try to filter by genre, it links to the add program section. *also in the create playlist section, can there be a select all programs button, especially when there are a lot of programs in it and you want to list them all... * finally: in the fc player, the schedule part is getting long when a lot of programs are scheduled. can the programes that allready passed be cleared from the list? that's all for now. grts bart |

hi everyone i was just thinking about the interface and how its best to layout the seperate actions (add program/edit program/ create channel etc) so its not to overwhelming for the user.... so the 'action' list that we have are: create new channel add program edit program create playlist view archive edit timetable (drop down list) customise player (drop down) program guide (drop down) logout for the moment we also have 'info', 'refresh' and 'rollover help' but i think these will not be included in the final layout (perhaps we will keep rollover help but i am not sure) so....I was thinking maybe we simply the list so on the navigation bar on the left we have : Create Channel Manage Programs Edit Timetable (drop down) Channel Options (drop down) When each of these options open there would be another navigation bar at the top of the page for 'Manage Programs' and 'Channel Options' On the navigation bar for 'Manage Programs' we would have: Add New Program Edit Existing Program Create Playlist Edit Playlist View Program Archive On the navigation bar for 'Channel Options' we would have: Customise Player Customise Program Guide (still to be developed) User Priviledges (to be developed) does that make sense to everyone? please suggest alternative models as this is quite a critial element to get right...all ideas welcome!!! :-) adam Adam Hyde XS4ALL Internet B.V. mobile : + (31) 06 2903 6248 Eekholt 42 1112 XH Diemen Amsterdam "free, as in 'radio'" |

hello everybody, it happened that i was trying to download a file from adam's "blink" timetable and i messed up with my schedule and added the ' video' programm which i then wanted to delete, but there is no way to do it... a button do delete a channel i think would also be good..it is important to create but then also to delete something if you don't like it or just doesn't work out well... -another thing is that i keep on getting the error of the page that is not displayed in the right way and i still have the problems i wrote yesterday about scheduling.. ciao chiara |

hi! after some testing I figured out that scheduling a program from the "more.."menu is giving some problems. when I click on "more..." and start scheduling from there, it works when = I click on the timetable. the right time and date appears in the drop-down menu's. but when i choose a time and date from the drop-down menu's, it s= ays it overlaps. when i try to go back to the "more..."menu and try it with clicking the timetable, it's not working anymore, while it worked before = i got the error. to get this right: clicking the timetable and then click =E4dd to timetab= le" is working, untill i choose a time and date and get an overlap error, the= n i also cannot get it done the other way. this is on both netscape and ie on windows 2000. attached is the part that i refer to as the moore..menu. a bit strange in the "moore..."menu is the recurrencemenu, that doesn't s= ay if it's the date, year or time, just the dropdowns with the numbers. ciao chiara+bart |

hi all.. james had an interesting question...i think he said he might know a coder taht could help with this if we can come up with a good solution suppose a user has a lot of streaming files already in a directory or series of directories and wants to add them to their FC...how do they do this easily? one way, the only existing way, at the moment is to add each file individually through the fc 'add program' interface but this is slow... so i think i can see two possible ways to make this easier: 1. if the user has a directory with streaming media files, AND these directories have some scripting support, then the following could happen: a) make a script to drop into any directory with streaming files in it b) this script would read each file in a dir and recurse through other directories looking for files with a prefixes like '.ra', '.rm', '.asf' etc and write these into a formatted file....something like: filename, url eg: radio.rm, http://www.radioqualia.net/streaming/radio.rm c) then another script, this time as part of the frequency clock site can be pointed to the file (above), and read in this information and output a listing of all the files with the fields that need to be completed.... -------------- the other way -------------- make a Visual Basic application that will read recursively through a folder, open each file and read the data frome ach file be it Quicktime, windowsmedia, mp3, ogg (not sure if this can eb done with ogg with VB), and real....the data that can be collected for each file would include: a) length b) name c) bitrate d) location (url) e) codec-specififc metadata (eg real have fields for author, copyright etc) f) format - video / audio g) codec all this can be gathered automatically by a clever VB app and then create a formatted file that can be used in the same way as described above for inputting the data into the fc db... anyways...anyone else any idea how to do this?...gio? luka? adam Adam Hyde XS4ALL Internet B.V. mobile : + (31) 06 2903 6248 Eekholt 42 1112 XH Diemen Amsterdam "free, as in 'radio'" |

hey all, I was thinking that we should keep chat open while testing (chat is linked from the player). That way we can talk to each other while testing and developing. Chiara wrote: > and I also have a problem with the window of the chat to be closed hmmm...does anyone know of a better chat we could use? I like the chat in the player but matbe there is a better (non-java) way to do it...anyone have any suggestions? Maybe a PHP chat could be good..... so maybe some news: I will be travelling quite a bit for the next 5 weeks but I will always be onloine and able to work on the Frequency Clock. Luka will be doing work from London too, so please keep comments and bug reports coming! I think my travelling will mean that the proposed meeting by Pete may have to wait :-( The good news however is that I will goto Berlin for a few days and speak with Micz Flor about developing the project in conjunction with Lowlive (a scheduling system he has built). Also, Gio is going to do some interface work for the project making it a bit more sensible. We had a good meeting today about this witrh Gio and I think if Gio has the time it would be great if he implements this directly :-) and lastly Goo is doing the design and he has some nice ideas so far. When he has something to show I will post it for comments... I hope all is well :-) |
