Dear Open Source developer I am doing a research project on "Fun and Software Development" in which I kindly invite you to participate. You will find the online survey under http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/. The questionnaire consists of 53 questions and you will need about 15 minutes to complete it. With the FASD project (Fun and Software Development) we want to define the motivational significance of fun when software developers decide to engage in Open Source projects. What is special about our research project is that a similar survey is planned with software developers in commercial firms. This procedure allows the immediate comparison between the involved individuals and the conditions of production of these two development models. Thus we hope to obtain substantial new insights to the phenomenon of Open Source Development. With many thanks for your participation, Benno Luthiger PS: The results of the survey will be published under http://www.isu.unizh.ch/fuehrung/blprojects/FASD/. We have set up the mailing list fa...@we... for this study. Please see http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/mailinglist_en.html for registration to this mailing list. _______________________________________________________________________ Benno Luthiger Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich 8092 Zurich Mail: benno.luthiger(at)id.ethz.ch _______________________________________________________________________ |

Can you access http://sourceforge.net/projects/opencoe? I can't access http://sourceforge.net/projects/opencoe, but I can access opencoe.sourceforge.net recently. Does sourceforge.net has some problems? --zeki |

This should just be a warning. The only result of this API should be a new entry into the /etc/group file for SSO with gid 10002. --ron --- zeki <cai...@16...> wrote: > When I ran Open COE 1.1.4.1, the programs told me > that: > /h/COE/Comp/OS/bin/OS_add_group -n SSO -g 10002 > Insecure dependency in system while running with -T > switch at > /h/COE/lib/Coe.pm line 505. > > Does this affect the install result? > > I use Red hat Linux 9. > > --zeki > > > > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.net email sponsored by: Enterprise Linux > Forum Conference & Expo > The Event For Linux Datacenter Solutions & > Strategies in The Enterprise > Linux in the Boardroom; in the Front Office; & in > the Server Room > http://www.enterpriselinuxforum.com > _______________________________________________ > opencoe-developer mailing list > ope...@li... > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/opencoe-developer __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? When I ran Open COE 1.1.4.1, the programs told me that: /h/COE/Comp/OS/bin/OS_add_group -n SSO -g 10002 Insecure dependency in system while running with -T switch at /h/COE/lib/Coe.pm line 505. Does this affect the install result? I use Red hat Linux 9. --zeki |

Posted new IP procedure: LINUX_VerifyInstall Encountered 4 issues: 1) UAM_Manager launched from CommandLine performs OK but stalls when launched from ApplicationManager (no cfg file?) 2) COEInstaller does not populate "Account Group" data during seg install. (prob with COE SegInstall or Account Group in Testapp) 3) COEInstaller does not remove data from AppData.dat during seg deinstall (COESegInstall prob, related to above?) 4) test kernel does not include COE/data/NET_SERVER (not in cvs) |

The IzPack GUI installer is nearly ready. Expect a new release this week. The new installer allows you to choose the installation directories for various OpenCOE modules (COE, COE Components, COE data, COE Users, COE Apps, COE COTS ... ) Some remaining issues... COE Installer needs some rework: COEInstaller - read MakeInstall files COEInstaller - installation disks/dir UAM: New User directories not being created __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? My original intentions was to create a toolkit that would create segments packages that could be installed by the official DII COE Installer. But without a sample of their "validation" algorithm, that is not possible. I changed the pathing from dii_dev to COESDK for two reasons. 1) Consistency since the SDK is an actual segment, I felt I should use the PREFIX for the path and 2) Inter-operability - I thought I might get the opportunity to run the DIIDEV and COESDK tools side by side and wanted to deconflict their pathh names. COE Segmentation is problematic. Is it better to use the COE 3.X rules? Native formats (MSI, RPM, PKG)? Other cross-platform packaging (OpenPKG, IzPack)? I have not really finished thinking about the design of this. -- Sorry I have been off line for a few weeks. A small vacation, much work, and an unfortunate scripting error which destroyed my entire development directories (thank god for backups which recovered most of my recent work) have slowed my reply. Thank you for your continuing interest. I will email you privately when I enroll you as a project member. --ron __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! I download Open COE 1.1.4.0 from ftp:/rhinohide.cx. But when I used coe_bootstrap.pl to install OpenCOE, I found an errors: The program display the following message: Unsuccessful stat on filename containing newline at /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.0/File/Copy.pm line 92. I browsed the code, the line 14 to line 17 cause the error. For example, line 14 was following statment: copy "/etc/group", "/etc/group.$date"; the $date value was assigned from statement: $date=`date +%Y%m%d%H%M%S`; but the value contained a newline character, so the problem occured. So I added "chomp $date;" before line 14, then the problem solved. I ran the program on Red Hat Linux 9. zeki |

ran Open COE 1.1.4.0 recently. When I installed several segments on my computer. I found that the COEListSegs only listed 8 segments. The output on my computer was just like this: The IP Address of this machine is : 127.0.0.1 The Host name of this machine: localhost The number of installed segments of this machine is :8 0:ICEMail (Java Mail Client):Software:/h/ICEMAIL:3.5.0.0 : 080943:25 Sep 03: 1:JAMES (JAMES Mail Server):Software:/h/JAMES:2.0.2.0 : 080943:29 Sep 03: 2:JFTPCLI (Java FTP Client):Software:/h/JFTPCLI:0.8.4.0 : 080943:39 Sep 03: 3:Java DNS Server:SOFTWARE:/h/DNSJAVA:1.2.3.0 : 080943:23 Sep 03: 4:Jetty (Java Web/Servlet Server):Software:/h/JETTY:4.0.3.0 : 080943:38 Sep 03: 5:OpenCOE Developers Toolkit:Software:/h/COESDK:0.0.0.1 : 302232:27 Aug 03: 6:Testapp :SOFTWARE:/h/TESTAPP:1.0.0.0 : 302155:50 Aug 03: 7:XBrowser (Java Web Client):Software:/h/XBROWSER:4.2.0.0 : 080943:42 Sep 03: But I installed more than ten segments on my computer.
