The Security Update Samsung released for the Galaxy A51 (as well as other phones over the past 6 months) made OpenCamera unusable because of significant shutter delay/lag,
I have already cleared the system cache on the phone, i have also already cleared the OpenCamera cache & data, as well as completely re-installing the app.
Before this security update OpenCamera worked fantastic.
This problem affects every 3rd party app I have that uses the camera (OpenCamera, Lightroom, Firstlight, WhatsApp, Telegram)
The default samsung camera app does not seem to suffer noticeably at all.
default camera (timer settings noted):
shutter button touched at 5.16 second mark
shutter sound plays 5.36
screen dims at 5.40
resulting photo shows 5.36
OpenCamera (timer settings noted):
shutter button pressed at 5.06
screen blinks in response to shutter button 5.50
shutter sound plays at 6.24
photo displays 6.24
testing done using my gaming PC, OBS, and a Logitech C930e Webcam (does 30fps @ 1080p)

I'm not sure I'm afraid (the only recent Samsung I have is an S10e which isn't affected by recent updates). If you see this across multiple applications it's more argument to try reporting this to Samsung.
Some things to try for Open Camera:

I contacted Samsung support and they blew me off telling me the default camera app works fine and blamed the other 3rd party apps...
HOWEVER, You sir are a man worthy of my admiration and respect!
changing the API to the newer Camera2 API completely brings the shutter delay in-line with the built-in camera app!
I've been using Open Camera since i found it all the way back when I had my Samsung Galaxy S4.
Even though you don't ask, I'd love to throw money at you on paypal/patreon/buymeacoffee to show my appreciation. check your email for my domain name ;)
THANK YOU!
