I've been a very happy Open Camera user for three years on a Pixel 3a phone. I tried it on a Pixel 6a but picture quality was poor; I believe the problem was in the 6a's JPEG processing, not Open Camera. A friend has a 5a; I tried it this morning. I was surprised not to have the option to save in DNG. Also, HDR was missing from the three-dot settings menu. I saved as PNG, but saving was really slow -- maybe ten seconds per photo.
I didn't think to save the Open Camera debug info before I gave her phone back. I'm wondering if all Pixel 5a's have the same problem. I've seen the FAQ that mentions "Pixel Visual Core"; I also didn't try to figure that out on her phone. I'm hoping any Pixel 5a users out there (or maybe any Pixel user, or Mark?) can tell me whether a Pixel 5a I might buy would be likely to have the same problems hers did -- and if there's any way to fix them.
Thanks!

Mark could you possibly share a dng from your Pixel 6. I am really trying to see what is going on in my Pixel 3a wrt the DNG created by Google and the one created by Open camera. They seem very different in many ways and the DNG from Open camera does not seem to comply with the DNG standard... esp using D55 for one of the illuminants. Ideally it would be nice to see a pair of DNG one from the native app and one from open camera... I posted some of the details on an older post but I can update or provide any further info... just curious....

There are multiple threads in General Discussions about Pixel 5a issues. It seems they go away if you turn of Camera2 API - but then you don't get DNG files :(

I just got my new 5a. Open Camera has DNG and HDR. I'm not sure why my friend's phone didn't (but she doesn't use Open Camera, so it doesn't matter).
Thanks for the info/update. I only have a Pixel 6 Pro (which has HDR and DNG).
