    +1 for this feature

For those who don't want it: a switch could be added in the settings, which disables the recognition of it.

Couldn't agree more! This is kind of a deal-breaker for me!

Them, why do you not break the deal, tim? Just use another camera app. Simple and effective medicament.

QR scanning is totally pointless and useless feature for OC which is among the best of the best camera apps, for taking photographs and videos. There are tons of apps available for childish QR scanning and most Android phones have the "Google Lens" built in.

Without QR scanning Open Camera is useless for me. Sry.

So, you do not need a camera app, but a QR scanner app.

Anyone arguing against this feature is an idiot. If you don't want it, don't use it. Like it or not, QR scanning is an expected feature of any mobile camera app these days.

You could take a photo by Open Camera and then share it to a QR code scanner such as Binary Eye on F-Droid. The most important part of the Unix philosophy is that "Do One Thing And Do It Well." I do not think that these fathers of Unix such as Ken Thompson and Dennis Ritchie are idiots.

The 'QR Scanner (Privacy Friendly) ' https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.secuso.privacyFriendlyCodeScanner/ is -perfect- scanner for both QR and BAR codes, it is on par with Open Camera, both are the best of the best, on their own application areas.

'QR Scanner (Privacy Friendly) ' also generates QR codes, for practically everything.

    Permisssions neded:
    - camera, obviously.
    - storage,in case history of the scanned codes is kept.

    File: com.secuso.privacyFriendlyCodeScanner_20.apk
    Size: 2.7 kB.
