-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA512 Michael, thank you for your quick response.`I had to wait until I got back in the university lab but now I can report that the fix eliminated the sending-twice bug. However my telematic dongle is still unresponsive to my queries. As I don't see any sign of SMS activity from it in the logs at all I believe that it is due to some specific configuration of the OpenBTS network that it refuses to use the network actively (remember that receiving messages reliably works). I wondered whether it might be possible that the dongle does not send messages over insecure / unencrypted connections. If someone on the list has other ideas, please let me know. To test my theory I tried setting up encryption in OpenBTS. As I have a self-burned SIM card (IMSI 262071234567891) I know ki and turned on full registration by registering a subscriber with *./nmcli.py sipauthserve subscribers create name imsi msisdn ki*. I also enabled *GSM.Cipher.Encrypt* via the OpenBTSCLI. I then restarted openBTS just to be sure everything was applied correctly and tried connecting the dongle. The following log output is the result: Dec 22 15:37:43 phl-openBTSBox openbts: INFO 1535:1857 2015-12-22T15:37:43.7 L3TranEntry.cpp:869:ttAdd: new transaction TranEntry( tid=116 GSMState=null chan=(C0T0 SDCCH/4-0 state=Established) Subscriber=( Imsi="" Tmsi=(no tmsi) Imei="") L3TI=16 Service=LUR stateAge=(0 sec)) Dec 22 15:37:44 phl-openBTSBox sipauthserve: NOTICE 1522:1522 2015-12-22T15:37:44.6 sipauthserve.cpp:234:processBuffer: imsi 262071234567891 known, 1st register Dec 22 15:37:44 phl-openBTSBox sipauthserve: ERR 1522:1522 2015-12-22T15:37:44.6 sqlite3util.cpp:62:sqlite3_prepare_statement: sqlite3_prepare_v2 failed code=1 for "update mem_sip_buddies set dirty = "1", rand = "",sres = "" where username = "IMSI262071234567891"": no such column: dirty Dec 22 15:37:44 phl-openBTSBox openbts: INFO 1535:1834 2015-12-22T15:37:44.7 SIPTransaction.cpp:550:TUWriteHighSideV: SIP Register received:SipMessage( code=401 reason=Unauthorized CSeq=210970 REGISTER callid=574aa22458a58954 To=<sip:IMSI262071234567891@127.0.0.1:5064> From=<sip:IMSI262071234567891@127.0.0.1:5064>;tag=OBTSpabeszyzgarsgtzd Vias=SIP/2.0/UDP localhost:5064;branch=1;rec...@fo...,SIP/2.0/UDP 127.0.0.1:5062;branch=z9hG4bKOBTSmeoavcficgcvwzlf Contact=<sip:IMSI262071234567891@127.0.0.1:5062>;expires=5400 header WWW-Authenticate=Digest nonce=a2e9cc3c9b9e76aed67df448c6336370 header P-preferred-identity=<sip:IMSI262071234567891@127.0.0.1> header P-phy-info=OpenBTS; IMSI=no-MMUser TA=0 TE=0.083008 UpRSSI=-40.000000 TxPwr=39 DnRSSIdBm=-70 time=1450795064.390 header P-access-network-info=3GPP-GERAN; cgi-3gpp=26207011d1a0a header User-agent=OpenBTS 5.0-master Build Date 2015-12-21T11:59:48 header Content-Length=0 firstLine=) Dec 22 15:37:45 phl-openBTSBox sipauthserve: ERR 1522:1522 2015-12-22T15:37:45.7 ../SubscriberRegistry.cpp:481:sqlLocal: Subscriber registry returned a NULL column. The above log messages are repeated two more times and during the second repitition the last two lines are missing. Then, I get visual feedback from the GSM LED of the dongle indicating that a connection is established. I wondered whether my connection was now encrypted and tried checking in /var/lib/asterisk/sqlite3dir/sqlite3.db. *SELECT * FROM sip_buddies WHERE NAME=dongle_name;* indicates that ki is indeed entered correctly, but no kc has been generated. To my understanding this means that a fall-back registration method has been used and the communication is still unencrypted. I restarted the whole VM that runs OpenBTS and then got a log output indicating some problems with the creation of kc: (Lines 1 to 6 identical to the above log, indicating the missing 'dirty' column) Dec 22 14:59:41 phl-openBTSBox openbts: ERR 1535:1857 2015-12-22T14:59:41.7 TMSITable.cpp:165:runQuery: TMSI table query failed: query=UPDATE TMSI_TABLE SET IMEI='359710049084380',A5_SUPPORT=5,POWER_CLASS=4,kc='46594CB512CAA800',ASSOCIATED_URI='<tel:11111>',ASSERTED_IDENTITY='',ACCESSED=1450792781 WHERE IMSI='262071234567891' resultCode=101 changes=0 error:not an error Dec 22 14:59:41 phl-openBTSBox openbts: ERR 1535:1857 2015-12-22T14:59:41.7 TMSITable.cpp:999:getKc: sqlite3_single_lookup failed to find kc for 262071234567891 Dec 22 14:59:41 phl-openBTSBox openbts: INFO 1535:1857 2015-12-22T14:59:41.7 L3TranEntry.cpp:1571:teRemove: SIP term info dialogCancel called in teRemove cancel cause: l3cause=785=0x311(MM_Success) SipCode=0() Dec 22 14:59:43 phl-openBTSBox openbts: ERR 1535:1857 2015-12-22T14:59:43.0 GSMLogicalChannel.cpp:124:flushL3In: channel closure caused message to be discarded:L3Frame( Primitive=L3_DATA Sapi=SAPI0 PD=Radio Resource MTI=0xd(Channel Release) TI=0 raw=(060d00)) C0T0 SDCCH/4-0 This does **only** happen after a fresh boot.
