Sorry, I should have provided more details. I have read the background info on clocking and camping. The setup is using a USRP N200 with the RFX-900 front end, and I have tried multiple ARFCNs in the primary (0-124) 900 MHz band. The MCC/MNC is set to use China Unicom and the IMSIs on the SIM cards are burned accordingly. I've thought about the clock issue, as I have seen time and again that the first thing to do is get a discplined clock. Well, that and the way an hand set synchronizes its clock apparently can lead to all kinds of wierdness. Only problem is, I have no issue seeing the base station if the phone does a scan, I just can't connect to it, and the phone gives me a useless error message. Rescanning, or turning the radio off and back on does not seem to help. Pretty much once the phone loses the network the only solution is a reboot (of the phone). Anyhow, the long term plan is to get a clocktamer or GPSDO kit from Ettus, but I'm worried about the fact that the phone sees the base station but refuses to connect with a SIM card error - which is why I wonder if anyone else has experienced such an issue. > Scott, > > The first thing to check is whether you have good enough clock and > whether you use an ARFCN without interference from incumbent operator. > > On Wed, Mar 7, 2012 at 03:28, Scott Valentine > <sva...@co...> wrote: >> I am experimenting with version 2.8 and I have everything working great >> with one exception. >> >> Two phones are provisioned in the system, and if the base station is up >> and running when I boot the phones, they jump on the network >> automatically.
