Category: Extensions Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 1 Private: No Submitted By: Mark Miesfeld (miesfeld) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: problem with RxWinSys.Clipboard.testUnit Initial Comment: There is some problem with ooRexx.Extensions.Platform.Windows.RxWinSys.Clipboard.testUnit. It produces different results on different systems, on different XP service pack 2 systems. I have 2 systems with Windows XP sevice pack 2, on both of them the testUnit passes all tests. But, on another system I have, 6 of the assertations fail. This third system is also Windows XP with service pack 2. And, as far as I can tell, from an OS perspective they are identical. On the system Lee used to develop the tests, they obviously also passed. I get the same results with the rc0 build and the rc1 build. So, it is not something that was changed between rc0 and rc1. I don't have the time to look into it right now, it will have to wait until later. I'd be interested in seeing if anyone else can reproduce the failing state with this testUnit on a Windows XP service pack 2 system. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Mark Miesfeld (miesfeld) Date: 2007-10-29 16:40 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=191588 Originator: YES Well, that's interesting. I was using Remote Connection to log on to the system(s). That uses some of the same stuff as terminal server and clients. But, for the tests I just ran, I was also using Remote Connection and eveything passed. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: pragmatic_lee (pragmatic_lee) Date: 2007-10-29 16:34 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1223125 Originator: NO Any chance terminal server client(s) were running on that system when the error occurred? Just read that such will prevent programs from "opening" the clipboard. That system had been rebooted, so I will probably never know what the cause was. For the record, all the ooRexxUnit tests (except the known failures) passed on the following: XP SP2 (falcon) XP SP2 (osprey) Vista Business (thrush) XP SP2 (egret) (A *very* old laptop) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: pragmatic_lee (pragmatic_lee) Date: 2007-10-29 08:38 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1223125 Originator: NO All's cool Mark, Just thought I'd give it a shot and see if I could recreate the errors. When you get a chance, I'd be interested in knowing which unitTests failed, but, like you said, this is a low priority. Today, using the 3.2.0 rc1 build, I ran all the testUnits on the following machines without any errors except the known ones. (The hostnames are for my own use so I can keep track of what I did.) XP SP2 (loon) W2K SP4 (kite) XP SP2 (hawk) XP SP2 (eagle) So, a total of 8 systems ranging from Win98SE to XP where there was no error. That makes this a low priority in my mind. <grin> ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: pragmatic_lee (pragmatic_lee) Date: 2007-10-29 06:26 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1223125 Originator: NO FYI Ran testUnit on the following systems "without" error. WinXP SP2 (my laptop) WinXP SP2 (my desktop) Win2K virtual machine Win98SE virtual machine Lee ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Mark Miesfeld (miesfeld) Date: 2007-10-27 18:20 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=191588 Originator: YES Lee, I didn't jot down which test cases they were. But, the same test cases always failed. And they failed every time I ran them on that one system, but never on any other system. It is a system I don't have up that often, I'll have to go back and try it again. The system is up to date though, service pack 2 and all the Windows Update fixes. Excel was not running. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: pragmatic_lee (pragmatic_lee) Date: 2007-10-27 18:14 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1223125 Originator: NO Mark, I just ran the testUnit after installing 3.2 RC1 and did not get any failures. A few questions: Which unitTests are failing? Do they fail consistently on the same system? Any chance Excel is running on the system giving the failures? (I've read that Excel doesn't play nicely with the clipboard).
