Category: Sample Group: v4.0 >Status: Pending >Resolution: Accepted Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: jfaucher (jfaucher) >Assigned to: Mark Miesfeld (miesfeld) Summary: ooRexxTry : find doc, message in console Initial Comment: Currently, the doc is not found when using Help/About/pdf. I propose something similar to rexxtry : use REXX_HOME. Moreover, I think we could display a message in the console, to explain the reason why of this console. What do you think of : This console will receive the output of your system commands. Try 'dir' for example. Both things in the same patch, for main and beta... Let me know if separated patches must be provided. I'm not sure about the 'bug' part, maybe it is something SourceForge does in the e-mail subject line. It doesn't seem to actually generate a 'Bug' tracker item. I just did this in the sample code, in the Help method had it look for the file in a doc subdirectory, then in the current directory. I'll add having it then look in REXX_HOME. If it can't be found it puts up a message box explaining that. This should cover just about everything. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: jfaucher (jfaucher) Date: 2009-04-26 09:36 Message: Normally the doc should be found from anywhere thanks to REXX_HOME. But it's true that no dependency on it is probably better. At the begining, I replaced 'ooRexxTry.doc' by 'doc\ooRexxTry.doc' and it worked from the Start menu. But it didn't work when I launched ooRexxTry from a command prompt, when located in c:\tmp, for example. About the assignment to Rick, I think it's done automatically, because I don't remember having done that from the patches tracker. And the fact the patch is also send as a bug, is it done automatically ? Jean-Louis ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Mark Miesfeld (miesfeld) Date: 2009-04-26 09:09 Message: Jean-Louis, I forgot about the Help in the program. I want to have all the PDF in one spot after install. I propose that we change the program to look for the help PDF in a subdirectory of the program location called doc. That way the program will stilll work in the samples directory in the source tree, (after I arrange it that way,) and work in the installation the way I have it now. The idea for a message in the console is a good idea. By the way, normally it is better to not assign a tracker item to a specific developer. Since Rick has to do the heavy lifting, I generally try to do things like this that don't require any special expertise to free up his time. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=684732&aid=2781686&group_id=119701 |
