Reading past feature requests about colors, it seems that there is a considerable processing overhead involved in having editable colour options for the GUI.

So, in order to help reduce eye strain, would it instead be possible to simply have light/dark modes to switch between the normal white background and a darker background in the GUI?

Similar, but much simpler. With the processing load in mind, I'm just asking if the background of the GUI could be toggled between two colours, rather than implementing more complex colour options for different types of the text, etc.

    Implemented in SVN (/trunk).

A script called Switch Colour Themes (with a default "Dark" theme) allows switching easily between colours sets.
