I think it would be VERY helpful for users to be able to change not only the background color of segments, but also the color of the text itself. I mean, text in untranslated segment may be, say, brown, in translated - greeen, in original - blue, etc.
This would be especially useful if you have a background in the edit pane.

That's a bug. The text colour is supposed to be changed when changing the "Text" element.

Maybe I failed to make myself clear. Now we can change font color for the WHOLE document. What I propose is to change FONT COLOR for SEGMENTS depending on their properties - untranslated, translated, comments, etc...
The text color does change, so I don't think it's a bug. I believe it's a feature request to be able to change font color not in one place and do it globally, but for every item, so that most items would have background and foreground (font) color.
I'm using latest SVN build of OmegaT with Oracle Java 8 and GTK LAF on Debian Linux
A feature request it is! )))))))) Kos got the idea right!

Implemented in SVN (/trunk).
Custom foreground colours can now be defined.

Implemented in the released version 3.1.8 of OmegaT.
