Hi,

I have suggestions for "OBI:0000435" - "genotyping assay" term and some of the terms under it.

"Genotyping assay" has synonyms that include snp, which is limiting and confusing, so I'd remove those synonyms. These synonyms are confusing because this term has the child term arrayCGH, which is definitely not suited to detect snps.

My other suggestion is to move the term "comparative genomic hybridization by array assay" under "genotyping by array assay" since it describes one of the techniques that do "genotyping by array assay".

I also have a question: it is somewhat unclear to me what the difference is between the terms "genotyping assay" vs. "DNA sequence variation detection"? Can these terms be combined?

Thanks,
Janos

    Hi Janos

    Thanks for reporting these issues.
you are right about the synonyms for genotyping assay in OBI as it stands. These synonyms were added before the addition of children classes. SNP genotyping should definitely be removed at that level.

When it comes the fusing the 2 classes 'genotyping' and 'DNA sequence variation detection' , this may be a valid call.

    best

    Philippe

    Hi Philippe,

Does that mean my suggestions will be accepted? This is the first time I submitted to obi, I am not sure about the process.

    Thanks,
    Janos
