broken pdf after optimization

I think something similar has happened before to other pdfs I own.

Sometimes, FileOptimizer will remove data in a pdf that results in a file with missing pages, images, etc. Here is an example (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1er0jD7G9xNmkX-tuJDpJl_2QafrntQH7/view?usp=share_link)

Optimizing the file results in at least the first page missing, perhaps other stuff is missing as well.

I think it's mutool

Yes, it must be mutool, it shouldn't be used unattended. I have been using mutool for a long time now and I've had several PDFs with the same issue and I have reported some bugs but still, missing content is, in my experience, somewhat common unless the PDF file is only text and no images. You should definitely check every PDF that gets optimized.

In that case I think there should be an option to disable it. I use FileOptimizer in batch mode to process many files. I'm willing to loose compression if it allows me to use it unattended.

It can be excluded. Hard way is to delete mutool, but you can also use Excluded plugin mask.
