Greetings. I hope this first post is not tiresome and obvious to experienced ngspice users and developers. I am a specialist hardware engineer who can get by in C, ABEL and Assembler; I like nice, simple, old- fashioned and obvious languages, such as Spice. I've been using Spice 2G and 3F to design my analogue circuits for almost two decades on Solaris and Amiga. But, since retiring and no longer having my lovely Sparcs to play with, and the '060 Amiga dying recently from a lightning strike via the modem, I've had to resort to using a WinPC for this latest project. So yesterday I was delighted to find ngspice under active development. My problem is simple. I cannot get any useful output from ngspice, even when trying previous proven scripts for 2G6 and 3F5. I used ngspice19-080425.zip expanded into C:\Spice under Win2KPro. The program will see the source files and happily run, but if I use any of my simple netlists (2G6 format) say testfile.cir there is no _useful_ PLOT or PRINT visible for any dynamic tests, and trying to 'save testfile.out' is accepted but there is no file saved anywhere in the PC. All I really need is 2G6 functionality. Attached are a pair of inp and out files that were first run on the Amiga and had the same successful results on Solaris Sparc. But, when tried with ngspice, there is no useful output visible with any of the commands I have been able to try, even though ngspice reports the required number of 'data rows' being produced. The cs_mixtv4.out output file is exactly the sort of thing I want, all the relevant data is there at a glance, produced from the Spice command options embedded in the source file, but how to achieve it with ngspice? Sorry to be so long winded. Many thanks in advance for any help. Richard Stevens |
