Undo doesn't move cursor, when undoModifiesSelect is False

Doing an undo should warp the cursor the current location. This sometimes fails when "undoModifiesSelection" is False.
nedit -xrm '**undoModifiesSelection: False" ... on a longish file.
Delete the last line.
Use "Find" to find some text in the middle.
Now press ^Z to undo the deletion.
The undo happens, but we don't scroll to the end of the file to show the cursor.

I think the motivation for the original patch was that undos
shouldn't disturb the selection. You would reintroduce that,
albeit at a lesser scale (only take away selection, not add
a new one).
Are you sure that would be useful?
