1) Simply type "nedit" without following any paramter
and a nedit window will appear.

2) Type any thing (at least one character) in the nedit
window and then choose either "Save" or "Save As" from
the "File" menu.

3) Type a name (make sure that it's a new one that
doesn't exist) and press button "OK". You will find the
message:

" xxxxx has been modified by another program. Reload?

WARNING: Reloading will discard changes made in this
editing session!"

4) By the way, when the file is empty there is no problem.

Indeed, but it only happens when the file has no terminating
newline already. It should be fixed now in CVS. Can you
    confirm ?
