Just tested your latest commit and the regression has disappeared. I had to revert the ncap_var_init() prototype
to get it to compile, though. Good job.
The file creation time (which stresses ncap LHS casting)
does not seem to have changed much---still completes
in about 3 minutes on sand.ess.uci.edu.
I think your latest patch reduced the integral
time-memory consumption however.
We've been running the benchmarks on sand and the ESMF.
However, we have not been plotting the results so I don't have
anything more quantitative at this time.
