I have a mat file containing four variables X as longitude, Y as latitude, Z as depth, T as time and temperature with dimension 164x98x40x12 . Now I want to create a nc file with these four variables. How can it possible

I don't know what a "mat file" is, and whether there is a netCDF converter available for it. I suggest you read the netCDF User Guide, and post again if/when you have an NCO related question. Good luck!
