Magic Assistant works perfetly well on my desktop computer, but won't work on my laptop.
On the laptop, Magic Assistant can't find JRE...

Both computers run Windows 7 Family Premium (x64), with JRE 7 update 51 installed.
Eclipse 4.3 works perfectly well on both!
On both computers, JRE and Eclipse were installed prior Magic Assistant installed being run.
I used the windows installer file in both cases (magicassistant-intaller-1.2.10.1-win32.exe).

I encountered 2 types of error.
The first was the the file javaw.exe could not be found within the MagicAssistant folder or its jre sub-folder.
I looked in the magicassistant.ini file, hoping to be able to specify a path to javaw.exe (C:\Windows\System32), but didn't alter anything since I did not find where to specify a path.
I then copied the javaw.exe file to the Magic Assistant folder, which led to the second type of error.
It gave me a longer error message, of which I made a screenshot, which is attached to this bug report.

This is as far as I went.

Second one does not work because java is not in right folder.
Installer should have put whole java installation in MagicAssistant/jre
So java would be somewhere in jre/bin/java

What was the first error? Download could be corrupted. Try re-downloading exe file.
I think it did not extract all java files properly. The other other option to wipe
jre folder and it would look for your own java installation (but if archive was corrupted some other files could be missing too)

    Thanks for the fast response!

The first error was simply "Can't find javaw.exe in PATH".
    I've attached the screenshot.

I tried re-downloading the installer and re-installing, still doesn't work.
I tried deleting the jre folder, also didn't work.
I then tried copying the folder from my desktop (since Magic Assistant copy works on it) to the laptop, and it still won't work...

With that last attempt, it might be reasonable to think that the problem is not with Magic Assistant itself.
So I removed JRE7 and re-installed it, still no effect...

There are some permission issues. I tried to extract it to Program Files(x86) on Widnows 8 and I get bunch of errors. And I cannot even see the folder from explorer. But I can see it from other file browsers. So weird.

Apparently Windows 7 and Windows 8 do not allow to install anything in Program Files except by windows installer. Since I don't have windows install weird stuff happens.
Try to install it in the home folder or other folder you can write too.

    Try this

    http://sourceforge.net/projects/mtgbrowser/files/Magic_Assistant/1.2.10.8/magicassistant-installer-1.2.10.8-win32.msi/download

Installer 1.2.10.8 solved the problem for me!
      Thanks a lot!
