#15 MSC-GEN 6.0 on W10 - No in-place OLE updates

On MSC-Generator 6.0, running in Windows 10, I see the following behavior:

(1) Create a call flow (sequence diagram)
(2) Embed the chart into a word document (2016). AT this point, the diagram is embedded into word via OLE.
(3) Edit the diagram by right-clicking on it and selecting "Edit". I do some changes.
(4) Here is the problem: "Update Chart" does not update the chart in-place. The F2 key has no effect and neither does clicking the "Update Cahrt" button.

The work-around is to save the chart back to a file and do the updates. They work on files (vs OLE docs). Once updated, embed into doc again.

In esssence, it is not possible to update OLE embedded charts in-place on Windows 10. I've tried this on two computers and see the same effect. Also, I have installed the Visual Studio redistributables (vc_redist.x86.exe) to no effect. Any suggested fixes? Thanks!

      Hi Zoltan,

Yes, it is “clickable”. But clicking the “update chart” icon has no effect. It is as if the button has no code linked to it. Just nothing! However, OLE works well for other applications (e.g. PowerPoint drawing inside word).

      …bizarre.

Love the program BTW. Use it every day,

      Humberto

      Hi,
Thanks for reporting this problem. Frankly speaking I have no clue. You do everything right and it is supposed to work like that, but I cannot reproduce the error. True, I have a Win7 machine, but it should still work. I cannot as of now test on Win 10.
Just a question. When you edit the chart in step #3, does the "Update Chart" icon become clickable? (If the chart is not modified it is greyed out.)

Hi! To answer your question, the "update chart" is not grayed out and is completely clickable. The response to the click though "feels" feeble, as if there were no code linked to the the "update chart" button. Many thanks!
