You want to be using gdb (the Python source-level debugger) for this. gdb will debug the C interpreter instead. The easiest way is probably to go into mrfilter_util.py at line 223 and write: import pdb pdb.set_trace() I'm also concerned about the 'Failed to load module "pk-gtk-module"' line. That probably means that you are missing some unidentified dependency. Then you can execute the program like normal.
