[MRBS-general] LDAP bind issue

HI All,
Firstly I have zip knowledge of programing let alone PHP! 
I have set up MRBS on an IIS7.5 server that talks to both a MySQL DB server & a Microsoft AD Server 2008 R2 server. 
I've confirmed the LDAP Bind User via Softerra's LDAP Browser on the IIS Server and I'm able to browse the AD tree with the bind users credentials, yet when I attempt a log on I get "Unknown User". 
The PHP error log has the following for each attempt:

My guess is that the special characters in the password are the issue? Or am I missing something else?
