On PCs running xfce both outputs are null. On PCs running KDE: [root@localhost ~]# lsmod | grep mpls [root@localhost ~]# dmesg | grep -i mpls Linux version 2.6.23.15-137.fc8.mpls.1.960 (jleu@koko) (gcc version 4.1.2 20070925 (Red Hat 4.1.2-33)) #1 SMP Thu Feb 14 00:08:42 EST 2008 MPLS: version 1.960 MPLS: protocol driver interface - <jl...@mi...> (I hope that at least this ones are right!!) On xfce I noticed that I couldn't find updates for getting kernel 2.6.23.15-137.fc8.mpls.1.960 Can you please give me some advice? Hello Jleu, I think you are absolutely right that MPLS Linux question should be discussed in this group. I am very sorry for that. I will strictly follow the rules and regulations. I have spent some time on the makefiles and now quagga(other modules rip, bgp, ospf, bgp) are compiling with LDP patch, but ldp is still not compiled since there is no Makefile.in in ldp patch. Please provide me Makefile.inand Makefile(generated). Please provide(or tell me the location to download) me if there is any latest patch(ldp-portable-0.900.tar.gz) exits. Thanks & Regards Bhartendu M. On Thu, Mar 13, 2008 at 8:02 AM, James R. Post the output of: lsmod | grep mpls dmesg | grep -i mpls I'm doubting that you are running an MPLS enabled kernel or that the mpls kernel modules are not loaded. quagga-0.99.6 and higher require newer versions of automake/autoconf. What distribution are you using what version of automake/autoconf are you using? Hello, finally I passed to fedora 8 on all the PCs of my testbed, but now I have a problem while configuring MPLS. At the moment my testbed is as follows: (pc A)------(LER 1)-----(LER 2)------(pc 2) When I run the command #mpls nhlfe add key 0 instruction push gen 1000 nexthop eth0 ipv4 10.0.2.4 The system answers the following: RTNETLINK answers: No such file or directory If I type #mpls nhlfe show the output is RTNETLINK answers: No such file or directory Dump terminated. I've read something about some QoS modules to be builded within the kernel, but I really don't understand what's the problem. On the 2 LERs I've installed f8 xfce (other desktop environments were too heavy for my old pentium 3), then I added mpls.repo and I launched the package updater. The only difference I noticed between this installation and other ones with f8KDE is that the new entry of the boot loader was Fedora (2.6.23.15-137.fc8.mpls.1.960) ---on "KDE PCs" and Fedora (2.6.24.3-12.fc8) ---on "XFCE PCs", but the command mpls is available! Could it be the xfce distro is different from f8KDE? Sorry if all my questions are not too clear, but really I don't understand what's my actual problem!!! Thank you, Luca |

Hello All, I have downloaded quagga-0.99.6.tar.gz and ldp-portable-0.900.tar.gz and applied the LDP patch on quagga-0.99.6. Hello Luca, The main difference is that the commands differ (mpls command switches, iptables switches, etc). The live cds don't work on newer PC because the new PCs might be using SATA CD/DVD-ROMs (which are not supported). If you can enable a 'Paralel ATA compatibility mode' in your BIOS, you might get away with it... I know Cristian Chirilov remastered and generated a newer version of the live CD (with quagga support), but I don't know if it's still available. Cristi, can you help us out with a copy? Adrian. Hello, I've installed f8+MPLS repos on my pc, but I have to build a testbed using very old-fashioned PCs that do not run f8. I've downloaded knoppix-mpls, and my old PCs do run this, but the MPLS version on knoppix liveCD is 1.946 while the one on my laptop is 1.959. (Notice that newer PCs do not run knoppix-MPLS!!!!!) Are there any problems about doing a mixed 1.946/1.959 testbed? What differences are there between the 2 versions? Thanks fur your help, Luca |
