I have redhat 7.2 with kernel 2.4.13 (MPLS patched).I got the latest ldp-portable via CVS ,first, I have a simple question:I compiled ldp-portable in directory ldp-portable by typing "make ldp_linux" and it was compiled successfully,is it compiled with MPLS_LINUX ?How can I make sure?(The first line in the Makefile in directory ldp-portable:CFLAGS = -g -I. -wall -D__LDP_LINUX__ -Werror #-DMPLS_LINUX). Hi, I tried the ldp-portable from CVS and it worked fine.No Warnings... The "/proc/net/mpls_out" file is not getting populated. We have a network like this, Host A - Router B (Linux) (Cisco) The label entries from Host A are available on the Router. The label entries in the Router are not getting propogated to the Linux box. The /proc/net/mpls_out is empty. Will the ldp process populate the /proc/net/mpls_out file ? Am I missing something here. Any help on this will be highly appreciated. Thanks, Hari. >From: "Hariharan Kunchithaptham" To: >mpl...@li... Hi, there! Is this MPLS-linux IP version 6 compatible? I couldn't find document or email discussion on this topic. If it is not yet IPv6 OK, any schedule to make it so? Thanks! -- Ben |

Hi, can anyone help me with this problem. I'm trying to send MPLS packet between two host using two ATM NICs back to back. ATM NICs: Forerunner 200 series Linux kernel 2.4.12 ATM on Linux 2.4.0 host1: atmsigd -b -m network atmarpd -b atmarp -c atm0 ifconfig atm0 192.168.1.1 up ./mplsadm -A -O atm:0/33:atm0 host2: atmsigd -b atmarpd -b atmarp -c atm0 ifconfig atm0 192.168.1.2 up ./mplsadm -L atm0:3 ./mplsadm -A -I atm:0/33:3 I check the file at /proc/net/mpls_* there were no outgoing label entry created on host 1. The incoming label entry on host 2 is there but the outgoing label entry on host 1 is not. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong. I also try to add a PVC using the following host1: atmarp -s 192.168.1.2 0.0.70 host2: atmarp -s 192.168.1.1 0.0.70 but still have the same problem The following is from the /var/log/messages kernel: mpls_add_out_label: enter kernel: mpls_make_dst: enter kernel: mpls_make_dst: before bind neighbor kernel: mpls_make_dst: bind neighbor failed kernel: mpls_make_dst: exit(00000000) kernel: mpls_add_out_label: mpls_make_dst failed kernel: __mpls_del_out_label: enter kernel: __mpls_del_out_label: exit kernel: mpls_add_out_label: exit Thank you for your help Jack _________________________________________________________________ Join the worlds largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com |

Hi, all. I want to identify the inlabel with input port information in ldp-linux. In the case of outpot, outlabel structure have the related information. But inlabel have no information directly, I think. In the case of no information of input port in inlabel, only just label merging is supported. But sometimes same inlabels with different inputs port should be treated differently. That is the case of GMPLS. Is there anyone care about this problem? I'm looking at the session information in inlabel structure. But it is difficult for me to get the wanted field from the session pointer. Hi jim n all, to grab the latest version of ldp-portable,I used "ldp-portable" with no revision ,insteed of modulename,and it was done, and now I have a directory named "/ldp-portable", but I don't know,is it sufficient or not? Thank you in advance. Z.Farah __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Health - your guide to health and wellness http://health.yahoo.com |

Hi jim n thank you for your response, I grab the latest ldp-portable via CVS(it doesn't have revision,I entered ldp-portable in modulename). I changed directory to ldp-portable and typed "make ldp_linux".it compiled successfully.I ran it like last time,this time I saw LABEL MAPPING message and ADDRESS message once at first,when I do "show session" a line is displayed,and when I do "show databese" two lines are displayed,but the files in /proc/net/mpls_* are empty except mpls_labelspace n mpls_in at host A. When I do "set trace 0xffffffff",I can see this message in the monitor: ldp_event: LDP_EVENT_TCP_DATA eror = 11 in addition: UDP data size = 0 TP data size = -1 What do they meant?, In addition when I do "add route 192.168.2.0/32 192.168.2.206",TCP data size changes to some value(I think 34 and then 22),then LABEL REQUEST message is appeared and then NOTIFICATION message is appeared and the programe aborts: ldp_linux : ldp-fec.c:374:fec-tlv2ldp_fec:assertion '0' failed. Do you know about it? I really need your response. Thanks in advance. Z.Farah __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Get the latest ldp-portable via CVS 0.060 is old. Make sure to compile with MPLS_LINUX defined in the makefile. Turn on trace before adding the interface. Use show commands to verify that you have an adj and to see what entries are in the database. Hi, I'm new to MPLS. I was wondering when implementing MPLS over ATM, where is the MPLS header, in the VPI/VCI or just the VCI field of the ATM header? If it's just using the VCI field, ATM should still be able to forward the packet with just the VPI field right? Hi I use mpls-linux-1.0 and ldp-portable-0.060 I have two hosts connected to the same subnetwork which make use of LDP. = After I issue > add global ... > add interface ... commands the exchange of labels occur (I can see it with network = analyzer) but one of the hosts do not ALWAYS build LSP properly. So, = from host A to host B all packets come with labels, but in the opposite = direction they come without them. ldp_linux on the host A outputs FEC: .... and on the host B it outputs index: .... Explicit > add route ... command on host B helps but sometimes ldp_linux crashes. By the way, what do the following messages mean which I use to see in = ldp_linux output ?=20 PRT: ldp_state_recv_init: cannot find adj PRT: Gratuitous search !! Another problem is the following. Suppose I have only one network = interface (eth0). If I issue the following command > add interface eth4 the ldp_linux will report an error but somehow add this interface (it is = possible to check it with show interfaces). If I issue then > del interface appropriate_number the ldp_linux will crash Quite often the whole system crashes when I exit from ldp_linux.=20 Sincerely, Sayenko Alex |

Did you select mpls options to be compiled inside the kernel or as modules ???? Maybe you need to do a insmod ??? Anyway did you use make modules ; make modules_install ??? at leats that what i need to do on my debian to get the modules working. You can take a look too at /lib/modules/2.4.9/ if you find there anu mpls modules you should do an insmod to get the things run Hope this helps Javier Sanchez Llera sj...@te... How did you install the kernel? 'make install'? 'make bzlilo'? What distribution are you using RedHat? If so use 'make install' to install your kernel (make user to make your modules and install them as well) Jim On Wed, May 01, 2002 at 09:19:59PM +0530, Hariharan Kunchithaptham wrote: > Hi, > > I am running a Linux-2.4.9 kernel,patched with MPLS (0.996). > All the necessary config options were enabled.The patch went thro fine. > > I found that the "dmesg" does not contain any MPLS info > , and the "/proc/net/mpls_*" directory is not available. > > I am not able to verify if the MPLS is enabled in the kernel. > > Any help will be highly appreciated. > > TIA, > Hari. > > > _________________________________________________________________ > Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp. > -- James R. Hi, I am running a Linux-2.4.9 kernel,patched with MPLS (0.996). All the necessary config options were enabled.The patch went thro fine. I found that the "dmesg" does not contain any MPLS info , and the "/proc/net/mpls_*" directory is not available. I am not able to verify if the MPLS is enabled in the kernel. Any help will be highly appreciated. TIA, Hari. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp. |

Hi all, i tried a below combination: ------- eth0 eth0 --------- : 1 :-----------------------: 2 : ------- .206 .207 -------- all ip 192.168.2.* I can ping betweenm the boxes.and I enabled Multicast on the interfaces and I did these steps: on node 1: ifconfig eth0 192.168.2.206 netmask 255.255.255.0 up ip addr add 192.168.2.206/32 dev eth0 ip route add 192.168.2.207/32 dev eth0 ./mplsadm -L eth0:0 ./mplsadm -d ./ldp_linux prompt>add global 192.168.2.206 prompt>add interface eth0 prompt>add route 192.168.2.207 dev eth0 and I repeated these steps in node 2,but when I set trace, only HELLO message is observed and no other messages are found.and when I do "show session",the response is "no session is established".in addition when I do "show route" no route is displayed. I think boxes don't have destination address of each other,but I don't know what must I do!? Can you help me,I really need your help. Hi Jim Thanks in advance for your reply,I did a allmulti,but computers still send Hello messages,I think maybe they can't find each other in the network,when I ping from A to B and vice versa, no error is occured but I'm not sure that ping is done succesfully,because there is no reply from B or A.in addition when I add dest address A to routing table B (add route -host A metric 1 dev eth0) it is done successfully and I can see address A in routing table B and vice versa. IP address of com A is :192.168.3.175 and IP address com B is :192.168.2.207. Hi all, Thanks a lot for your help Jim, weve already try your suggestion and its work. After several trial, we know if we use only 2 router (ler ler) ip will be faster than mpls, then if we use 3 router (ler lsr ler) mpls will be a little faster than ip (without running mplsadm d, if we run this command ip will be faster than mpls). After trying the simple one, we want to try another type. And we need some help to check our program , whether is it right or not. The topology that we use is like this : 1111 2222 ===> ===> <=== <=== 4444 3333 Host A ----- LER A ----- LSR A ----- LER B ----- Host B Eth0 eth0 eth1 eth2 eth0 eth0 eth1 eth0 |eth2 |eth1 |eth2 | | | | 8989(up)|9999(down) | | | | | |eth2 | --------- LSR B --------- 5555 6666 ===> ===> <=== <=== 8888 7777 The ip number that we use : Host A  eth0 : 192.167.1.1 LER A  eth0 : 192.167.1.2 eth1 : 192.167.2.2 eth2 : 192.167.8.2 LSR A  eth2 : 192.167.2.3 eth0 : 192.167.3.3 eth1 : 192.167.5.3 LER B  eth0 : 192.167.3.4 eth1 : 192.167.4.4 eth2 : 192.167.6.4 LSR B  eth0 : 192.167.4.5 eth1 : 192.167.8.5 eth2 : 192.167.5.5 Host B  eth0 : 192.167.6.6 Host A and host B - without MPLS LER A : root# mplsadm -v L eth0:0 root# mplsadm v L eth1:0 root# mplsadm v L eth2:0 root#route add 192.167.6.6/32 dev eth1 root#route add 192.167.6.6/32 dev eth2 root#mplsadm v -A B O gen:1111:eth1:ipv4:192.167.2.3 f 192.167.6.6/32 root#mplsadm v -A B O gen:5555:eth2:ipv4:192.167.8.5 f 192.167.6.6/32 root# mplsadm v A I gen:4444:0 root# mplsadm v A I gen:4444:0 LSR A: root# mplsadm -v L eth0:0 root# mplsadm v L eth1:0 root# mplsadm v L eth2:0 root# mplsadm v A I gen:1111:0 O gen:2222:eth0:ipv4:192.167.3.4 B root# mplsadm v A I gen:1111:0 O gen:9999:eth1:ipv4:192.167.5.5 B root# mplsadm v A I gen:3333:0 O gen:4444:eth2:ipv4:192.167.2.2 B root# mplsadm v A I gen:3333:0 O gen:9999:eth1:ipv4:192.167.5.5 B root# mplsadm v A I gen:8989:0 O gen:4444:eth2:ipv4:192.167.2.2 B root# mplsadm v A I gen:8989:0 O gen:2222:eth0:ipv4:192.167.3.4 B LSR B: root# mplsadm -v L eth0:0 root# mplsadm v L eth1:0 root# mplsadm v L eth2:0 root# mplsadm v A I gen:5555:0 O gen:6666:eth0:ipv4:192.167.4.4 B root# mplsadm v A I gen:5555:0 O gen:8989:eth2:ipv4:192.167.5.3 B root# mplsadm v A I gen:7777:0 O gen:8888:eth1:ipv4:192.167.8.2 B root# mplsadm v A I gen:7777:0 O gen:8989:eth2:ipv4:192.167.5.3 B root# mplsadm v A I gen:9999:0 O gen:8888:eth1:ipv4:192.167.8.2 B root# mplsadm v A I gen:9999:0 O gen:6666:eth0:ipv4:192.167.4.4 B LER B : root# mplsadm -v L eth0:0 root# mplsadm v L eth1:0 root# mplsadm v L eth2:0 root#route add 192.167.1.1/32 dev eth0 root#route add 192.167.1.1/32 dev eth1 root#mplsadm v -A B O gen:3333:eth0:ipv4:192.167.3.3 f 192.167.1.1/32 root#mplsadm v -A B O gen:7777:eth1:ipv4:192.167.4.5 f 192.167.1.1/32 root# mplsadm v A I gen:2222:0 root# mplsadm v A I gen:6666:0 thats the program that we write.
