Hi James, When using mpls-linux-1.0, I was unable to get a proper configuration setup. The binding of outgoing label fail. The following is the kernel log for it. kernel: mpls_add_out_label: enter kernel: mpls_make_dst: enter kernel: mpls_make_dst: before bind neighbor kernel: mpls_make_dst: bind neighbor failed kernel: mpls_make_dst: exit(00000000) kernel: mpls_add_out_label: mpls_make_dst failed kernel: __mpls_del_out_label: enter kernel: __mpls_del_out_label: exit kernel: mpls_add_out_label: exit when using mpls-linux-0.993, the configuration setup was fine. As soon as we forward packet the kernel on the remote host crash. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem? Thanks for your help again. Jack >From: "James R. Good morning, I would like to configure MPLS on Redhat linux 7.1 for QoS experimentations. Could someone tell me where to start ? Is this something included with Linux like DiffServ or do I need to download specific patches. MPLS-Linux documentation and patches. thanks, Abou |

Hi jim n all, I hope you have good days, and I appreciate your pervious helps. I ran last version of ldp_linux on two computers successfully, now I have a question aboute database: When I enter "show database" in ldp_linux,I can see prompt>show database 1 0a000001/32 3 via 2 2 c0a80200/24 3 via 2 3 0a000002/32 2 via 2 4 c0a80200/24 2 via 2 I read in README.cli that we can see the stored and transmited label mappings and requests when using this command, but I see no information about labels.I can't underestand these lines at show database. Thanks in advance for your useful comments. I have another question: can you give me some description about this line in /proc/net/mpls_out: 40004002 0/0/0 PUSH(gen 16) SET(eth0,192.168.2.207). Thanks in advance. Best regards, Zahra Farahmand. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! - Official partner of 2002 FIFA World Cup http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com |

Hi folks, The docs included in the package are outdated and I have found no other docummentation on this project, so i would be glad if someone could help with the basics. I managed to create in/out labels and to make to pcs communicate through then, but i have no clue on how to pop the label of a received packet and forward it with a different label. I have tried using in label instructions such as 'pop:fwd:key:0x2' and 'pop:push:gen:2000:peek' with no results. thanks. Add this line #define ARPHRD_MPLS_TUNNEL 899 /* MPLS Tunnel Interface */ below #define ARPHRD_IEEE80211_PRISM 802 /* IEEE 802.11 + Prism2 header */ in the if_arp.h file of your patched linux tree. In the other hand there's any patch for the fib_hash.c file in the mpls-1.128 patch. hi,jim and all Jim ,Thanks for your help! I haven't running your code over ppp link. What you say is correct!! There are two means to join a multigroup. In my idea of "dstaddr" in ldp_if_linux; you use it to determine from which interface the UDP hellp packet comes. Is this true ? Does your answer mean that your use SO_REUSEADDR opt for running multi-LDP_LINUX in one pc? Using SO_REUSEADDR opt I can start Ldp_linux and after a while I can start another Ldp_linux while the former one is also running. But your code is design for per-platform label space. Is it useful to have the system running multi-ldp_linux instances at the same time ? Can you throw a light on my questions. Hi, Has anybody successfully applied the MPLS patch to 2.4.17/2.4.18 Linux Kernel. I get the following messages Hunk #1 FAILED at 81. 1 out of 1 hunk FAILED -- saving rejects to file include/linux/if_arp.h.rej Hunk #5 FAILED at 1009. 1 out of 5 hunks FAILED -- saving rejects to file net/ipv4/fib_hash.c.rej Thanks, Hari. _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com |

Hi Jim, I used the latest CVS patch with the -DMPLS_LINUX flag. It compiled properly. After running a routing daemon(zebra&ospfd) , I was able to populate /proc/net/mpls_out file. 1) I am not clear about "non-uniform label distribution" issue. Can you throw some light on this ? 2) Also it looks like the ldp portable looks into the routing table , only during initilization(add g xx.xx.xx.xx) If there are new routes learnt by the routing daemon, the ldp does not pick up these routes and the corrsponding labels during its normal operation. **We need to restart ldp to pick up the new routes and labels. ** Any help will be highly appreciated. Have a good day. Thanks, Hari. >From: "James R. THis is a know probelm. I am working on a fix for it. I received a hint from Luca (his last name escapes me now) that it might be the policy layer which is to blame.
