How about a quicktime component of mplayer so that all the current media types in mplayer can be easily used in quicktime or the quicktime web plugin. Also, through some tests on my somewhat old computer (iMac G3 350 mhz), I have found opening quicktime mp4's, mov's, etc. in mozilla under the quicktime plugin works faster than using the quicktime application itself. |

I really would like to thank you for making a program to play all of these various file formats. However, I have noticed that is seems to lock up quite often and is not accessible from the menus. It seems to work only in the dock. That is all. Good luck. P.S. I am running MAC OS X 2.6 William White |

Hi, Thanks for your very nice icon, but I'm sorry to say that I'm not in charge of neither MPlayer nor MPlayerOSX. (Actually, I'm surprised you send this to me.) About the GUI, I didn't even contribute to it, but some of the issues you point out are not easily fixed. Currently, it is practically impossible to add buttons to the MPlayer window, or to remove one of the dock items, due to limitations in the way MPlayer displays the video on screen. It can be fixed, but it would be difficult and take a lot of work, so I wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you. Maybe I'll get it done, maybe someone else will, maybe nothing will be done; no-one knows. I'm sending a copy of this message to the MPlayerOSX mailing list. Please send further replies to that list. The icon is attached at the bottom of this mail (for the mailing list). It's pretty good, actually! BTW, maybe this should be sent to the MPlayer core developers? - Dan On Saturday, May 17, 2003, at 05:24 PM, Bart van de Biezen wrote: > hi Dan, > > I created an icon for MPlayer. I had a feeling it was merely on par, but you've made my day. (There are only 10 minutes left of it, though...) - I have experienced the cracking/stuttering too. It's my top priority right now. - There's no volume control; I pass the sound directly from MPlayer to CoreAudio, so naturally the volume is slightly lower. This is my second priority. Could you perhaps check the synchronisation, if it's correct? BTW, you should consider changing the settings for the mailing list so the default reply is to the mailing list and perhaps with a Cc to the sender. - Dan |

Hi, Attached below is a native audio output module for Mac OS X using the CoreAudio API's hardware part. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could try it and tell me what they think. It does not seem faster than the SDL audio output, but it's one step closer to getting rid of SDL on Mac OS X. It connect directly to the audio output unit, and will request the hardware sampling rate (normally 44100Hz), channel count, sample size, etc. It uses 32bit floating point for the audio since that's what CoreAudio expects. This could possibly be changed by using AudioUnit API, or by setting another format. There are still some issues with it. It stutters when the system is busy. It doesn't seem quite accurate, but I have a feeling thats because of the timer. I've been working on a more accurate one, but there are some weird bugs. I would greatly appreciate if someone could try this (and the timer) on a raw Darwin system w/o Mac OS X. Both should work. It would also be nice if people would give it some general testing and see how well it works. BTW, what is the meaning of ao_data.outburst? - Dan Christiansen |

Mplayer package does not contain Hebrew font, you should supply it yourself by putting it in to the Fonts folder inside Resources of application bundle. Then you have to select proper subtitles encoding that the subtitles are written in. There still might be a problem with backward text rendering. Gentleman, I noticed that, while playing any kind of movie, if I close the Mplayer=20= window (not the GUI) clicking the red button, or with (=EF=A3=BF + w) or = (=EF=A3=BF +=20 q) key combination, or even with Esc key, the movie stops, but the GUI=20= gains more cpu attention, easily reaching the maximun CPU spare time.=20 This behaviour does not appear only if I stop the movie with the Stop=20 button in the GUI. My Mac is a iMac DV + with a 450Mhz G3, with 512MB of Ram. I've noticed=20= (using top in terminal window) that while playing a movie the GUI use=20 up to 10% of CPU time, setting down to 5% when I minimize it clicking=20= the green button, and to 3% if I send it to the Dock. If I may suggest you a feature, I would say it could be useful the=20 possibility to manage the movies, organizing them, for example, as=20 Safari does with the bookmarks. I'm currently studing the possibilities that Mencoder offer, and I have=20= encounterd a roblem, using it from a terminal window. Trying to mux a=20 new audiofile in a video-only file, I type a command like this: mencoder ~/video.avi -audiofile ~/audio.mp3 -ovc copy -oac copy -o=20 ~/newmovie.avi Mencoder start without giving me an error, but the It freezes, without=20= giving me any output. The only way I can get an output file is changing the above command to: mencoder ~/video.avi -audiofile ~/audio.mp3 -ovc copy -oac mp3lame=20 -lameopts <...> -o ~/newmovie.avi But I think there should be an easier way than entirely recoding the=20 audio. I thank you for your attention, you are doing a great job. Roberto Comelli. =20 =20= |
