that aqua seeker you are using, "status bar", is making me unable to
play lots of movies smoothly on my slow 350 mhz mac.
it is taking up lots of resources, please put something less resource
hogging in its place, PLEASE!
I know that but in aqua there is no adequate control for
this pupropse. Try minimize the player window, minimized
version lacks this progress bar and may help to get more
resources.

I disagree with your claim that Aqua has no adequate control for this
purpose. Why not use a slider? It would properly show the interactive
nature of the control and could be updated dynamically to show status. It
doesn't use a continuous animation, so it should use fewer resources than
a progress bar. It even comes in a tiny size that would be appropriate for
the current layout of the GUI. it seems like a better solution than using a
special event handler for the progress bar. What do you think?

I've made the necessary changes to replace the progress bar with a slider.
I am in the process of contacting Jan Volf to get added as a project
developer so I can upload my changes to CVS. I will post again when this is
done.
