Hi Andrew - > From: Andrew Stevens <and...@ne...> > Some thoughts on stuff TODO for a final release to avoid what seem to be some > common "newbie traps". > > - Rename mplex to "mplex2" since: (a) It no longer has any code commonality > with the original mplex (b) does MPEG2 as well MPEG1. Is that a good idea I wonder? I see several things happening: 1) The old executable is still around so now there'll be two programs: 'mplex' and 'mplex2' around - guess which one will be run either out of habit or by newbies? 2) Folks do remove the old mplex and then get constantly reminded of the name change with "mplex: command not found" from all the scripts that have accumulated over the _years_ 3) A symlink is installed "mplex -> mplex2". Now both are present ;( Newbies who stumble across that situation might wonder what the difference between mplex and mplex2 was ... > - Remember to set the version name in configure.in etc ;-) ;) Oh, one question: is the release going to wait for Stefan to finish the rewrite of yuvdenoise? It is a far superior version. Cheers, Steven Schultz sm...@2b... |
