I explain in the video that I had copied a plot, had attached a new variable to the plot, and was renaming it in the Options window before Ravel had recalculated. Then the dreaded "Resetting" window popped up and, for all intents and purposes, the program hung.

I said "hung for all intents and purposes" because, as this video shows, you can still access the menu and forms, but the canvas can't be edited.

The resetting window is telling you exactly what it is doing. It is not crashed or hung. It will finish the reset/recalc at some point, how long depends on model complexity. Of course front end operations are still available, but backend operations (including saving the state of the model), will need to wait until the backend operation completes, or has successfully been cancelled.

It was going for over an hour before I shut the program down mate, and it
was a simple model. Something crazy must be going on in the code.

Having said that - reset should never take an infinite amount of time, although the time is indefinite (model dependent). So the progress bar should progress. At each progression stage, it is possible to cancel the operation.

I don't feel this is an issue for Minsky Marx release right now, so it seems reasonable to leave this for Pascal.

Although it may also be related to https://sourceforge.net/p/minsky/tickets/1737/, which I am going to look at for Marx.

I’ll see if I can trigger it at work today (insomnia had me up at 4 bloody
a.m.!), but when it happens it makes the program unusable. I’ve waited an
hour or more (doing something elder in the meantime obviously) and it’s
still locked take and canceling has never worked.

Maybe fixed already, if it is the same as the other one.

This might be a clue to the effective crash with the "Resetting..." message. I just loaded the autosave, and the data files are empty.

Is this still an issue? I can't seem to reproduce this - I followed your addition of a Fiat variable, ravel and plot pressed reset, and hey presto, it produced a result after about 35 seconds.

It could be in the bad old days when resets banked up that it took an age for the system to recover.

Yes I think that fix may have eliminated this bug.
