It was the INVALID_FILE_ATTRIBUTES #define in winnt.h I don't remember exactly what it was before, but I changed it to match some similar ones in the same header file and now my compile works: #define INVALID_FILE_ATTRIBUTES ((DWORD)-1) Thanks.
