This is one of a series of reports on a test to reconstruct the MSYS-1.0.11 distribution kit. It contains a description of building the vim package. This package produces ex.exe, rvi.exe, rview.exe, rvim.exe, vi.exe, view.exe, vim.exe, vimtutor, xxd.exe, a bunch of man pages and a large bunch of vim scripts and other documentation. The vim.exe file is included in the basic MSYS distribution. The ex, rvi, rview, rvim and vi scripts (not executables) are included in the msysDVLPR distribution. The other files are not included in any MinGW or MSys distribution. This is another messy package to build. It requires libtermcap.a from the termcap package, but the configure script, which does not produce any config.log entries to explain the problem, fails to detect it. This problem can be bypassed by specifying the --with-tlib=termcap option. It also has to be built in the source directory tree. Finally it makes ex, rvi, rview, rvim, vi and view links to vim.exe (which end up being copies, not links) without .exe suffixs and that has to be fixed during cleanup. 'make' also produces a number of warnings. |
