The reason is that MSYS as a build environment should remain reserved as private for MSYS. The MINGW32 build environment is what we present as public. Yes, this presents us with the headache of needing to modify the config.guess and config.sub files to add MSYS but I would rather live with this headache than present MSYS as a formal build environment to the public. The MSYS goal is to present to the MinGW Community an environment in which to execute configure && make. Anything beyond that goal is out of scope for MSYS. I hope this doesn't deter you from helping with MSYS. Earnie |
