Hello Earnie & Team, I've started writing tutorials on MinGW / mSys. They are available on my website : www.amanitamuscaria.org. You are free of course to copy them to the MinGW wiki. I haven't set them myself on the wiki as there is some website errors when trying to set up a new account. Concerning the RXVT bug (output is not sent to RXVT) : - If you rename/remove the /bin/ftp file then output is sent to RXVT. In this case, the file /bin/ftp.exe is executed. I haven't be able to drack down where /bin/ftp.exe comes from (since it does depend on the msys dll) - If you change /bin/ftp to `cmd //c ftp "$@"` (or simply remove /bin/ftp.exe and /bin/ftp file) then output is also sent back to RXVT / Dos box. In the case of the Dos box, we receive all stdin/out/err. In the case of RXVT, we receive stderr and stdout but not the notification messages (ie: "220 GNU FTP server ready."). In other words, I don't believe that starting a 'native' dos program (such as ftp) should be called by using `cmd //c start ...`; this avoids a new window being opened. As for the output of notification messages, I haven't a single clue why they aren't stdout or stderr ! For the time being, I'm currently lost on this one. Subject: [MinGW-dvlpr] [MSYS] RXVT bug Msys developers, I'm wondering how we're doing tracking down this bug. I would like for discussion on this list so please feel free to respond here. What we know is that the stdout is blocked until the pipe is full in the child process. What we don't know is how to change that mode for the child process. This is relative to RXVT using pty, which it rightly should, but tty pipes work without a hitch.
