Hi, this is a topic of huge interest for me. I'm switching back and forth between MinGW and UWIN, sort of like a race. Since this list is religously Free-S/W (as am I), I personally want to avoid ActivePerl, despite being a good company throughout. UWIN is a concession, partly because it is led by David Korn and KSH has been the basis of my career, and there has been a successful port of GNOME, here in NY. UWIN Perl is stuck on 5.4.2 or something, bad, and since the compile sources are missing, I cant add any new modules. To make matters worse I am only starting to study the C language and much of that time is going to be spent understanding Perl6 (and Python) internals. Often mentioned, I do have an internet box available for any use imaginable, expect network attacks (it seems I have to mention that ;). Just go to Menu->Join-> Click "want to become a developer". That gives you a login and Perl oMail or SQ WebMail. oMail is what I use, but it needs all the help it can get... http://Omail.SourceForge.net > I was reading through the active perl docs and they are configured for > VC++. TOPAZ, an early Perl6, was written in C++, but... not for VC. Since MinGW is getting along so well, the Free S/W option was taken. TOPAZ is moot of course. I'm not sure where Perl6 stands but I will crosspost to Perl6-Internals. Great SIG !! Obviously, we're more interested in the gaming part but I do hold a huge bunch of computer based medical stocks.
