I would then hide the current > Mingw1.0 release I COMPLETELY agree with the idea of updating the main distribution with recent bug fixes, the current arrangement isn't exactly the most newbie-friendly scenario on earth (brief "beta" periods before the release of future milestone distributions would help eliminate similar hassles down the road). However, I would suggest that rather than swapping out the MinGW-1.0 package (and hiding/deleting the existing one)... we instead make the new distribution MinGW-1.1 or MinGW-1.01 or something tiny increment like that. Yes, I realize there are timestamps embedded in the filenames... but you still just KNOW that it would create confusion for newbies. Anybody having any technical difficulties installing "version 1.0" would check the mailing list archives and see a million posts about that version requiring a patch... and when the patch fails to fix their problems the resulting confusion on the mailing list would probably be worse than it is already.
