Well, I am not Vincent, and the technical lead WRT MSYS integration must 
come from Cesar Strauss, but I do have one comment...

This work is much too valuable, and deserves a deeper level of technical 
discussion than should be entrusted to this general mailing list; please
open a ticket on the patch tracker; see:

http://mingw.org/wiki/SubmitPatches

so that it doesn't slip under the radar again.
