If they want the program to also run on Windows, then *they* have to take the necessary measures, so their code will have something like #ifdef _WIN32 /* Do it the Windows way */ #else /* Do it the Linux way */ #endif in various places. In reality, they must also account for the differences between the various flavours of Windows. If the author is not concerned about compiling and running on different platforms, then it may work by luck, or not.
