Hi Earnie, I have trawled through the updates. I have installed the 20080826 version, which leaves me with the cd problem. Extra info as requested. reddinm@TBADKI184 ~ $ ls -la total 4881 drwxr-xr-x 11 reddinm Administ 0 Sep 16 12:52 . drwxr-xr-x 15 reddinm Administ 0 Sep 16 21:29 .. drwxr-xr-x 9 reddinm Administ 0 Sep 16 13:36 autoconf-2.63 -rw-r--r-- 1 reddinm Administ 1562665 Sep 16 12:18 autoconf-2.63.tar.gz drwxr-xr-x 3 reddinm Administ 0 Sep 16 12:35 automake-1.0 -rw-r--r-- 1 reddinm Administ 183160 Sep 16 12:20 automake-1.0.tar.gz -rw-r--r-- 1 reddinm Administ 1894400 Sep 16 11:47 bash-3.1-MSYS-1.0.11-1.tar drwxr-xr-x 2 reddinm Administ 0 Nov 16 2007 bin drwxr-xr-x 6 reddinm Administ 0 Aug 7 2007 coreutils-5.97 -rw-r--r-- 1 reddinm Administ 3727360 Sep 16 12:10 coreutils-5.97-MSYS-1.0.11-snapshot.tar drwxr-xr-x 2 reddinm Administ 0 Sep 16 12:14 info drwxr-xr-x 5 reddinm Administ 0 Mar 2 2008 libtool-2.2 -rw-r--r-- 1 reddinm Administ 2216275 Sep 16 12:21 libtool-2.2.tar.gz -rw-r--r-- 1 reddinm Administ 409600 Sep 16 12:06 m4-1.4.7-MSYS.tar drwxr-xr-x 3 reddinm Administ 0 Nov 16 2007 man drwxr-xr-x 2 reddinm Administ 0 Sep 16 11:55 reddinm drwxr-xr-x 3 reddinm Administ 0 Sep 16 12:16 usr It did not work as described above. Now more wierdness - when I use: reddinm@TBADKI184 ~ $ cd /autoconf-2.63 it works reddinm@TBADKI184 /autoconf-2.63 Not only that, it appears to keep working, and there is now no sign of the problem. On the SF project FRS page http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=2435 you will find it named "MSYS Supplementary Tools". In it you'll find a "Technology Preview: Tools for MSYS-1.0.11" release with more current versions of the tools contained within it. > * Install MSYS Core 1.0.11 > <http://downloads.sourceforge.net/mingw/msysCORE-1.0.11-2007.01.19-1.tar > .bz2> . It is an archive. Untar it in C:\msys\1.0. > On the SF project FRS page as above you will find "MSYS Base System" with a release of "Technology Preview: MSYS-1.0.11". In it are more recent versions of the individual packages used to create MSYS. The CORE MSYS package is delivered as msysCORE and contains the Minimal SYStem. The next version is 1.0.11 and the most current released date of the preview is 20080826. The bad thing about giving a specific file in the WIKI is that the WIKI data becomes outdated. > > Any ideas: > > $ls > autoconf-2.63 coreutils-5.97-MSYS-1.0.11-snapshot.tar > autoconf-2.63.tar.gz info > automake-1.0 libtool-2.2.tar.gz > automake-1.0.tar.gz m4-1.4.7-MSYS.tar > bash-3.1-MSYS-1.0.11-1.tar man > bin reddinm > coreutils-5.97 usr > > reddinm@TBADKI184 ~ > $ cd autoconf-2.63 > sh: cd: autoconf-2.63: No such file or directory > > > Hopefully this is a simple oversight on my part.
