Hi All, Just a bit more information. I think it is actually one of these two steps on the MSYS web page installation instructions that is causing cd to no work (http://www.mingw.org/wiki/msys): * Install MSYS DTK 1.0 <http://downloads.sourceforge.net/mingw/msysDTK-1.0.1.exe> in C:\msys\1.0. * Install MSYS Core 1.0.11 <http://downloads.sourceforge.net/mingw/msysCORE-1.0.11-2007.01.19-1.tar .bz2> . It is an archive. Untar it in C:\msys\1.0. Any ideas? Kind regards, Matt Redding ________________________________ From: min...@li... Hi MinGW gurus, Thanks for your help on this one. I've installed MSYS on my system and am working through the wiki's recommendations. I've had a little trouble with downloads from source forge and Windows insisting on renaming them without bz2 or gz extensions - but I found I could name them back to what I wanted then use tar from within the msys bash shell. SO far so good.... However, now I cannot cd to the directories where I want to install the latest versions of autoconf, automake, and libtool. I can have a look at them from within file explorer, but not from within the msys shell. Hmmm. Any ideas: $ls autoconf-2.63 coreutils-5.97-MSYS-1.0.11-snapshot.tar autoconf-2.63.tar.gz info automake-1.0 libtool-2.2.tar.gz automake-1.0.tar.gz m4-1.4.7-MSYS.tar bash-3.1-MSYS-1.0.11-1.tar man bin reddinm coreutils-5.97 usr reddinm@TBADKI184 ~ $ cd autoconf-2.63 sh: cd: autoconf-2.63: No such file or directory Hopefully this is a simple oversight on my part. I can't find anything in the archive for the group however.
