Category: None Group: None >Status: Pending Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: PAL (paul_langner) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Latest version of gcc / g++ crashes under cygwin Initial Comment: The latest version of MinGW gcc / g++ will not execute under Cygwin, whereas the previous version will. It smells like an assert () was hit, as the standard "The application has requested the Runtime...." occurs when either are called. I upgraded Cygwin to the latest version and the problem remained the same. However, both versions work fine under the Windows XP cmd environment. The details are as follows: Windows XP SP2 MinGW installer version 5.1.3 Good (previous) version: gcc 3.4.2 ld 2.16.91 Bad (current) version: gcc 3.4.5 (mingw special) ld 2.17.50 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Earnie Boyd (earnie) Date: 2008-01-16 10:09 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=15438 Originator: NO Because of "However, both versions work fine under the Windows XP cmd environment." this then there isn't an issue for MinGW. It ``smells'' to me like Cygwin isn't spawning the process correctly. I don't use Cygwin [1] so I don't know the problem you're having, you'll have to give more specific details about your environment, e.g. where you have gcc installed and use ``gcc -v'' to debug. I can't read your mind or your monitor. Give specific details. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: PAL (paul_langner) Date: 2008-01-16 00:47 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1936590 Originator: YES I thought I provided all the relevant details? The new version crashes on g++ anything.cc, or gcc anything.c, and the old version doesn't. I just went back to the old version which works fine. Tell me what else is needed, and I'll try and provide it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Earnie Boyd (earnie) Date: 2008-01-15 18:03 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=15438 Originator: NO Your reported problem is a support request since you've not provided enough details to be determined to be a problem with MinGW. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=202435&aid=1872417&group_id=2435 |
