Indeed.  I would have hoped (and assumed) whoever created that wiki post 
would have also submitted the patch in the relevant channels. 
Unfortunately they posted it anonymously, and now searching the patch 
manager did not return any results to this patch, so apparently it was 
never put anywhere besides the wiki that I could find.  So now my 
imagination can resolve the "why" in it not having been merged yet. :)

I never claimed ownership of the patch or wiki post... sorry to get 
everyones skirts in a twist over trying to help the original poster with 
a temporary solution that I found while searching the wiki on the same 
issue for myself.  I can appreciate though your concern.

In any case, the functionality purported by the patch would be very 
useful to myself and others.  Maybe the creator of the patch is on the 
list reading this, and will now submit it correctly.
