Hi there, I have a question about "gcc -dumpmachine". It's probably not only "-dumpmachine", rather what "--target" is setup to when the toolchain is built. Here is some output from various gcc installations: Platform -dumpversion -dumpmachine Gentoo Linux on PPC 3.2.3 powerpc-unknown-linux-gnu Gentoo Linux on x86 3.2.3 i686-pc-linux-gnu OpenBSD-3.2 on PPC 2.95.3 powerpc-unknown-openbsd3.2 Suse 8.0 on x86 2.95.3 i486-suse-linux Cygwin 3.3.1 i686-pc-cygwin MinGW-3.1.0-1.exe 3.2.3 mingw32 Why does the gcc shipped with MinGW-3.1.0-1 just output "mingw32" instead of using the same syntax as the others? I mean, I can pass "mingw32" to config.sub (shipped with autoconf I think) to get "i386-pc-mingw32", but why not setting it to "i386-pc-mingw32" directly? Thanks, and sorry if this has been discussed before. / magnus |
