Thanks Filip,
That fixed my compile problem.  Again, stupid me - right flags, wrong
position.  Now things seem to be compiling and running fine.

On a side note: I'd really like to thank all the MinGW developers for
teaching gcc to compile Windows programs.  Its been a lifesaver.
