Currently, I can build Python extension DLLs using mingw, and these work fine. However, there is a suggestion on the Python developers list that the standard distribution of Python be "upgraded" to be built using MSVC 7. If this happens, Python's runtime will use the new C runtime, msvcr71.dll, which is reported to be incompatible with msvcrt.dll. Should this happen, it will no longer be possible to build Python extensions with mingw, without building a custom Python runtime as well. Is there any way of linking mingw-built DLLs to use msvcr71 as the C runtime? If not at present, are there any plans for this to be done in the future? Thanks, Paul Moore |
