As for a GUI, I use gvim (http://vim.org). you can get the windows version at: [ftp://ftp.vim.org/pub/vim/pc/gvim61.zip] I wouldn't touch MFC with a 10' pole. They never do stay with standards, they have to have "M$-Specific" things....
