Add the line ENV=.bashrc somewhere in /etc/profile The reason why this is necessary is because of this: --norc Do not read and execute the personal initialization file ~/.bashrc if the shell is interactive. This option is on by default if the shell is invoked as sh. If MSYS was to provide a "bash" and execute "bash" rather than "sh" then all would be better.
