[Mingw-users] GCC path ?? -remap??

I have GCC2.95 GCC2.95.2 and GCC2.95.210 running on two W98 boxes. 
Howerver a student tried to intall on a newer box, as I have also done -- I get errors such
as

        cpp: unrecognized option -remap when grying to run gcc
and the error
 
G77.EXE: installation problem, cannot exec 'f771': No such file or directory         when trying to run g77 

irrespectrive of GCC version.  

--- This problem has appeared in the mailing lists before -- is there any resolution.

I can provide infomation on the underlying DLL's etc
