I investigated a little more and found:
1) the abovementioned error message says " data: etex.fmt "
-- to me that means the system is trying to create a
format file with that name,
2) but in the formats list in the settings menu it says
" output file name: etex.efmt " , and that CANNOT
BE CHANGED by the user because "built-in format
definitions cannot be changed"
[ if etex is a built-in format, why does
the memory dump file not exist
in the first place ?? ]
3) is this name discrepancy:
" `etexe.fmt' built" vs. " `etex.fmt' not found"
perhaps a bug ??
Should I report it as such, or does anybody have
another explanation ?
ccn.
